Bath Day

Hi, I'm Hannah.  I'm a Wirehaired Dachshund.  For a long time I've wanted to have a diary, but it's hard for me to hold a pencil and turn pages.  But now I can do it on the internet and that's much easier!  I'm going to be telling you about my life and the lives of my housemates.

Today is Wednesday, Cleaning Lady Day.  Sometimes we stay home when she's here, but usually when she comes it means "Camp Happy Dog Day!"  I LOVE going there, but my best friend Dougal, the other dog in my house, isn't so keen.  Usually we walk there, and as soon as we turn the corner onto the main boulevard, I know exactly where we're headed and I pull my person all the way to the front door.  I'm wagging my tail and excited, but Dougal has his ears down and makes it perfectly obvious that he thought we were going on a REAL walk through the hilly neighborhood, and feels duped.  He's going to be extra miserable today, because I heard talk that he needed his nails clipped...I think he was going for the Guiness Book record and is not going to be happy about that.

I'll be getting a bath.  I have mixed feelings about it.  I like being clean, but when the groomer looks over the pen wall and calls my name, I usually run and hide in the dog house.  She really needs to stop using that ice cold water!

The worst part about Camp Happy Dog is that my person doesn't pick us up until one minute before closing, which just about gives me a heart attack.  Every once in a while we don't get picked up for DAYS, and I'm never sure if this is going to be one of those times.  It's not so bad, and my person usually leaves my crate so I can have my own bedroom, but sometimes they misunderstand the feeding directions, and I get breakfast but no dinner.  Don't mess with my food.  I really need breakfast AND dinner.  Dougal could go for days without eating, because he doesn't like the food anyway, but I LOVE my food, and would eat all the time if I could.

The best part about Camp Happy Dog is all the other dogs, of course!  I just can't explain the exhilaration I feel when I enter the pen and all the dogs clamor around me to smell my...well, let's just say that I enjoy it so much I roll over onto my back, belly up, and savor every moment!

Cross your fingers for me that I get picked up on time today.

That's it for today,

Hannah
